The State Property Agency publishes its first Sustainability Report. The Agency led by Alessandra dal Verme is the first public economic body to voluntarily adopt a tool to communicate to stakeholders the creation of value through the public real estate assets, the objectives, programs, main initiatives and results achieved in 2023, in terms of sustainability. The activity of management and enhancement of the State's real estate assets in fact generates social, environmental, economic and governance impacts and the State Property Agency has decided to adopt the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) approach to the real estate investment cycle: "the aspects related to the impacts on the environment and the territory (improvement of energy performance, reduction of land consumption and natural resources, commitment to preserve the climate system), the social impact (redevelopment and regeneration of degraded areas, improvement of accessibility and usability conditions, social inclusion, etc.), governance (innovative processes, image return and operational efficiency), thus become all complementary evaluation factors to the technical, economic and financial ones".

The initiative, as stated in a note, "is part of the broader path of development and investment towards sustainability and digital transformation of the Agency, implemented thanks to the strengthening of its own governance and a renewed vision that gives centrality to users and citizens. The 2022-2026 Industrial Strategic Plan is based precisely on the themes of sustainability, innovation, and digitalization. The management of public real estate has been integrated with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) indicators according to the perspectives of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), the European directive that came into force on January 5, 2023, which obliges companies to communicate the social, environmental and governance impact of their activities".

“The Sustainability Report is the first step that will lead the State Property Agency to measure and communicate the creation of value in the management of public real estate assets for users, Territories, and the Country," explains the Director of the Agency, Alessandra dal Verme. “We have voluntarily chosen to start from a perspective of adaptation to the European CSRD directive, aware that sustainability itself is a path in continuous evolution, to ensure adequate information to our supervising ministry and to all stakeholders, according to principles of "good governance": accountability, transparency and inclusion.”
